Our history

Paulo Frontin Service Station of The Texas Company (South America) Ltd. at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Chevron is one of the world's leading integrated energy companies, with subsidiaries that conduct business worldwide. Committed to develop energy that improves lives and powers the world forward, our company has stood the test of time with an history that dates back to the 1870’s.

In Brazil, the company has been present since 1915, operating in downstream with the commercialization of Texaco® products up until 2017, when its subsidiary Chevron Brasil Lubricants joined a new venture to create ICONIC Lubricants.

Our history

In 1997, Chevron expanded its business to exploration and production, following a Brazilian government decision to open the sector to private investment.

Today, with operations managed out of Rio de Janeiro, through the subsidiary Chevron Brasil, our upstream portfolio includes exploration activities in 11 deepwater projects, two of which are located in Brazil’s prolific pre-salt.

In the downstream segment we own and operate an Oronite® facility that produces a range of fuel and lubricant additives.

Together Chevron’s downstream and upstream history in Brazil mark over 100 years of activity.
