Chevron Brasil is investing in the second edition of Artisans Business School, a social project in São João da Barra municipality. Developed in partnership with the NGO Rede Asta, the initiative aims to educate forward-thinking entrepreneurs with management skills and give access to tools that can help and boost their businesses.
The project lasts eight months and includes diagnostics indicating the main gaps and difficulties of enterprises and product design consultancy for product development. In addition, dressmakers and artisans take sales strategy classes and participate in an eight-content learning trail to make their businesses sustainable.
“We are very happy to continue supporting this project. For Chevron, it is key that the communities where we operate have sustainable development and this is only possible through people´s qualification. That is the reason why we are investing one more time in this project, which has been doing an essential work on training entrepreneurs women in the state of Rio de Janeiro”, said Mariano Vela, Chevron Brasil Country Manager.
For this edition, it is expected that 20 artisanal productive businesses will participate in the Artisans Business School, divided into two classes with 20 students each. The items produced by the group are sold through the various sales channels managed by Rede Asta, including a mobile app that connects the entrepreneurs to over 300,000 home décor and fashion retailers in Brazil.
In the last partnership between Chevron Brasil and Rede Asta in 2016, the Artisan Business School was implemented in Campos, Macaé, Nova Friburgo, Barra do Piraí and Rio de Janeiro. The group – made up of 17 artisanal productive businesses and 209 artisans - received over 300 hours of training and over 1,000 hours of analysis of the artisanal businesses. As a result, the artisans who attended the business school had an increase of up to 167% in their income.
